Sweet Couragous Boy
Today, Logan and I had QUITE a discussion involving easter eggs at nap time (Aiden acutally sleeps with one as a sort of lovey...don't ask...and Logan wanted some for his nap as well). However, instead of sleeping with them, Logan just wanted to talk about them, play with them, discuss their colors (specifically that he wanted a big GREEN egg, not the big YELLOW one I brought to him) and NOT sleep until I was forced to take them away and threaten their imminent demise should he chose to remain awake. Sadly, my threats did not win me some free time, but I had located the "big green egg" that he had begged for and left it outside of his bedroom door with a note that said: I (heart) U (happy face) love, mommy. He found it when I let him escape from nap torture and I helped him read the note. Later, he wanted to have it, but it was up in his room. I quickly wrote him another one. Both were written on squares of paper that came from a note cube in the kitchen. After I put them to bed tonight, I found both notes on the fridge, stuck there at Logan height with magnets. I almost cried it was so cute!
The gym: a constant source of anguish for both Logan and me. When I take the boys to the playroom, sometimes Logan runs away happily, but mostly....he cries, snots all over himself, has been known to scream etc. When Aiden sees Logan in this state it's like he thinks "crying? are we crying now? I want to cry too!" So.....today started to look shaky on the gym front even before we left. Logan took one look at me in my work-out cloths and said "I don't want to go to the gym!" Then I had a brilliant thought. I have these three keys (long story) that say "courage", "respect" and "honesty" on them. I bought them all for different reasons and I realized that the courage one was PERFECT for the gym. I explained to Logan that I was going to give him this special "key of courage" and that courage meant being brave and not crying. He was going to be allowed to keep this key in his pocket while we were at the gym to help him. I have to say...it worked like a charm (at least for today!) He showed everyone from the front-desk guy to the girls in the kids' playroom his "key of cor-age" and proudly kept it with him until we got back to the car. It's in my diaper bag for tomorrow...fingers are crossed that he falls for my little trick again! :):)

About Me
- Renay
- Stories about BRLAB: Brian & Renay, two relatively sane parents, and our three adorable, but active boys: Logan - 9, Aiden - 7 and Brady - 6. I started this blog to document our adventures and milestones for those family members who are far away and can't always share the fun in person. This blog has become my way to keep track of everything in the lives of my growing boys - from the super big stuff that seems the most important to the small things that probably really ARE the most important. I always include tons of pictures because I plan to make a book out of the blog on a yearly basis. Time flies by so fast, I can only hope that these posts will help us remember all the wonderful and silly times we have together as a family.
