Making Waves

Today was a nice, hot summer day. It's been so cool this year! Knowing it was going to be a scorcher, our friends had planned a trip to the local water park and invited a few of the neighborhood families. YEAH!! Sadly, we couldn't take Brady because he's not even in a swim vest yet so he stayed with Memaw and Grandpa...hopefully next summer!!

The big boys had a blast! Highlights:
  • "flying like superman" down the lazy river which meant that they had their vests on and just floated the whole way.
  • Playing in the kid's pool. The could both touch the bottom which was awesome! Logan practiced his swimming, learned to do handstands and even forward flips under water. Aiden was saying over and over "I can walk! I can walk!"
  • The wave pool (twice)
  • A couple big slides with mom and dad. Technically, neither Aiden nor AJ were tall enough even to go on the rides with parents, but we took them a couple times anyway. During our third slide attempt, Aiden and Daddy were situated in their tube, ready to push away down the slide when the lifeguard pulled Aiden off to be measured! Brian had to walk him down and everyone was saying "ahhh....too little" I told him that he really needs to eat lots of veggies if he wants to grow from his current 37 inches to the requisite 42 by next summer. Poor little man! (and please...not to worry...we were quite careful with him when we did take him down the slides!! I had his legs stabilized under my own during the one where all four of us went down in one big tube and I had him wrapped up tight on the single tube we shared down another!)
Two cameras ago, we bought an underwater casing for scuba diving. Brian tracked down both the old, old camera, as well as the casing, and took some great pictures of our day. He's a much better photographer than I am. I was so tempted to include all 30-some pictures he shot, but I managed to pare them down to 16 of the best ones.

Here, Logan exits one of the slides in the kid's area. Aiden was even too small for these ones! :(

Last year, he wouldn't even stand under all this water. I think the goggles help!
I thought the bright yellow bathing suit would help me keep track of Aiden....but he just blended in a lot of the time

Aiden and AJ heading out on the lazy river.
The river waterfall: avoid? don't avoid? I usually paddle away, but it was HOT so I steered right on in...looks like Brian the camera man did as well!

little man, giant tube.

mommy (bad hair day!) and the boys in the wave pool.
Underwater photography is fun. This is Aiden.

Daddy and the boys.
The camera somehow got set on black and white...pretty cool! Here is Logan running around the small pool area to go down one of the slides.

...with little brother right behind
Who is that peeking around Logan's shoulder?

It's AJ

I love this picture of Ryan coming out on one of the kid's slides
The girls in the lazy river
These are the two tall kiddos who were allowed ride everything! Way to eat those veggies guys ;)

So funny! Just got off the phone with my sister who went to twilight time there and loved it! We might hit it next week when Rich is off - our kids aren't fish like yours, though. I may need to do some coaxing.

What an awesome, awesome day! Looks like SO much fun! Poor Brady, missing the day! Next year maybe he AND A will be big enough for more of the slides.

I WANT TO GO TO A WATER PARK!!! That looks like SO much fun! I remember (way back when we looked good in bathing suits...actually...when we still needed some fat on our bones to look good in bathing suits...)waiting in the super duper long line that went up and up and up big wooden stairs, holding on to the huge tubes, shivering in the shade and not caring one bit because after we got to the top and went down this huge slide, we were going to go to the super, awesome, amazing (apparently pee filled but who cared) WAVE POOL!!!!!! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

PS - those pictures of Logan and Aiden in black and white remind me of the picture of you and I walking in the street after the rain that mom's friend took of us.

About Me

My photo
Stories about BRLAB: Brian & Renay, two relatively sane parents, and our three adorable, but active boys: Logan - 9, Aiden - 7 and Brady - 6. I started this blog to document our adventures and milestones for those family members who are far away and can't always share the fun in person. This blog has become my way to keep track of everything in the lives of my growing boys - from the super big stuff that seems the most important to the small things that probably really ARE the most important. I always include tons of pictures because I plan to make a book out of the blog on a yearly basis. Time flies by so fast, I can only hope that these posts will help us remember all the wonderful and silly times we have together as a family.
