Raiding the Kitchen

Two weeks ago, when Brian was out of town one night, I had a pretty lazy dinner planned for me and the boys. It was one of those Chicken Voila things that you pour into a pan, cook for 10 minutes and...well...Voila! The boys ended up outside playing with friends pretty close to dinner time. Logan went inside at one point and grabbed a bunch of grapes...which they took up to the club house and devoured. Next thing I know, everyone had string cheese. Anne ushered her kids away without eating the cheese, but I went ahead and let mine have them since I was already coming up with an even lazier back up dinner plan! I asked the boys if they wanted to pick 2 more healthy things to eat and, along with the grapes and cheese, call it dinner. I think we had toast and maybe some yogurt that night. They thought it was the greatest! Since I knew they would request this type of meal again, I decided that it needed a name. Now we call it "raiding the kitchen". Two times this past week, we "raided the kitchen" for lunch. It tends to be a lot of work for me since I have to get up several times to get the next item on the menu, but it's worth the effort since the boys are 1. learning how to pick healthy foods and 2. eating everything on their plates.

About Me

My photo
Stories about BRLAB: Brian & Renay, two relatively sane parents, and our three adorable, but active boys: Logan - 9, Aiden - 7 and Brady - 6. I started this blog to document our adventures and milestones for those family members who are far away and can't always share the fun in person. This blog has become my way to keep track of everything in the lives of my growing boys - from the super big stuff that seems the most important to the small things that probably really ARE the most important. I always include tons of pictures because I plan to make a book out of the blog on a yearly basis. Time flies by so fast, I can only hope that these posts will help us remember all the wonderful and silly times we have together as a family.
