Fun Fall Family Tradition - check!
Today (Sunday), we went on our 2nd annual trip to Bengtson's Pumpkin Farm <-- link to last year's post. It was the perfect day to go. We've got some busy weekends coming up, the Bears had a bye week (for those non-football fans, that means that they didn't have a game) and who knows what's going to happen with this already-too-cold-for-fall weather. Logan was excited to see the "scarecrow fixing the car" which he remembered from last year (it's a skeleton, but kudos for the memory) and going through the haunted house (which he did at least twice). Here are the pictures! We're here! It's a long drive and we just kept answering "yes" to Logan's "are we there yet?" inquiries from the back seat. Here, the boys peek inside the corn-lined gates at all the action while daddy ran back to the car for our coupon.
At least the older two are getting used to mom's requests to stay still (ish) and pose for a picture. Brady refused with his new favorite work, "n-yo" <-- no
Giant pumpkin!
Bengstons has the funniest signs, animatronic displays (dancing chickens, singing skeletons and these guys fixing the old car...Logan's fav again this year!) You can't see, but there is a skeleton sticking out the front like he's fixing the car (you can only see his legs) and one inside the car yelling things like, "try it again! I don't think that worked," and finally, "ok...here goes," then the car shutters, shakes and spits out smoke. I think we watched it at least 3 times.
This is MY favorite thing from last year. I am going to try and duplicate something like this pumpkin totem-pole in our yard. We left the farm with at least 18 little gourds that the boys helped me pick out to make faces.
So...they all sat for a picture, but there were MUCH more interesting things to look at instead of mom and her camera
They even smiled when asked, but still had their sites set on something else...
A-ha! Got it! By the way, this is one of the only moments when Brady would actually wear his gloves. He seems to love them initially. He sticks out his little hands, says "gloves!", claps when they are on repeating "gloves! gloves!," and then takes them off about 5 minutes later.
hee hee
Even daddy couldn't focus on my documentation of the day. The thing here more interesting than me is the train ride...I don't blame the baby at least ;)
Me and the boys waiting for our turn on the train!
These hats, by the way, are winter's answer to my orange/green/red shirts in the summer. It was easy to scan the crowd and find my three little striped-hat boys.
Logan and Aiden rode in the front. I was a couple seats behind them with Bray. Logan spent the whole ride yelling "all aboard!!"
me and Bear
Walking "boy style" (ie: not in a straight path, over anything that can be climbed and as slowly as possible...unless the goal is to be slow...and then they run) God love 'em!
Action shot! This little maneuver looks like it needs theme music
Singing chickens...the back of the boys heads again :)
Taking in another ride - flying frogs
Daddy took Bray this time.
We ended our day by buying, again, the world's most delicious kettle corn. Other points of interest: the pig racing (hysterical), some cute sleeping bunnies, a water-pump area that was tons of amusement since the boys got to each have their own water pump for a while, the sweet corn (can you say VAT of butter for dipping...yuuuuu-um!), BBQ to share and picking out pumpkin-face gourds.
next year, I'll take more pictures of the funny attractions (plus obviously more back-of-head shots). I just looked at my post from last year and it's pretty cute to compare...I think they were even dressed almost exactly like they were this year plus I posted about how much I liked the totem pole and Logan was sitting in the exact same spot on the train ride! About Me
- Renay
- Stories about BRLAB: Brian & Renay, two relatively sane parents, and our three adorable, but active boys: Logan - 9, Aiden - 7 and Brady - 6. I started this blog to document our adventures and milestones for those family members who are far away and can't always share the fun in person. This blog has become my way to keep track of everything in the lives of my growing boys - from the super big stuff that seems the most important to the small things that probably really ARE the most important. I always include tons of pictures because I plan to make a book out of the blog on a yearly basis. Time flies by so fast, I can only hope that these posts will help us remember all the wonderful and silly times we have together as a family.

What an AWESOME day! I just LOVE this! Pumpkin farms are definitely among my favorite things to do!! The hat idea is great - and just too cute!! Bear and gloves - you've gotta love a man like that - the enthusiasm and then the realization that geez these things are hard to work with once they're on! One of the stores at Disneyland has those gord face pumpkins in the window. Just too funny!! Can't wait to see yours!
