Party Like It's Valentine's Day
Today was the Valentine's Day party at Logan's school. I was on the planning committee and in charge of the good bags. I wasn't aware, but to be on the planning committee is to fully plan and run the party. Good thing I have lots of moms with 4-year-olds in the same (one year ahead of Logan) preschool program to bug for info on how this is all done :)
Here are the goody bags. I had these gift bags in my basement (long story)....and tons of them too so I just used my good 'ol cricut to make the cut out hearts and filled them with the fun stuff I ordered from Oriental Trading.
Here's all the stuff that went inside. Play-doh with valentine's stickers on top, kazoos (I apologize to the parents of Logan's classmates for those!), heart maze games, lollipops (just want we need on Valentine's day...more lollipops!), airplanes and a couple other silly things.
14 goody bags for 9 boys and 5 girls. These sat in my kitchen for a week.
One of the other moms was in charge of the big craft. She found these boxes, attached heart "flags", put each child's name on the side in glittery stickers, and filled them with baggies of decorations - so cute!

Look how nicely they all sit on the rug :) Logan is in orange - where was I on the red shirt for Valentine's day, right?!

Here are all the kids making their mailboxes.

Do you think maybe I take too many pictures of my children? Logan saw me across the room with the camera, stopped his craft, and gave me a grin!

When he was done with his mailbox, Logan made me take a series of pictures...one of each side of the mailbox. Here is the top.
And the caterpillar on the side. I will spare you all the rest of the pictures.

Logan wanted to help set up for snack time so we let him put out the napkins.

Just like at home, Logan took my camera and snapped a couple shots of his own. That's me cleaning up after snacks. Boy is that shirt unflattering!
I stole our game idea from my friend - hot potato with a heart. We played music (from my iphone on a docking station I brought in....of kids singing "Achy Breaky Heart") and every time we stopped the music, whoever had the heart stepped out and went back to the table to do another quick craft. Logan REFUSED to pass the heart until I stopped the music so that he could get out. He thought you win by leaving the circle! In actuality, the child left at the very end got to take home the Valentine's book that we brought in for story time. Here, Mrs. Jen helps the class make a circle.
The final craft - also stolen from my friend: beaded pipe cleaner hearts
All the finished mailboxes.

Grandpa watched the little boys while I was at the party so he and Aiden helped Logan go through his valentines (and the attached goodies!) while I made us all lunch.
Side note: after lunch, as I was cleaning up, I glanced out the kitchen window to the patio and laughed (to myself...what else is new!) at the scene pictured blow. These are some ducks that my mother in law gave me. I need to add a third duckling someday. The boys love to play with these (they feed the ducklings, take them to the sandbox and put them in various places on the patio walls). I couldn't help but think that this little arrangement (brought to us by Aiden I think) is sort of apropos for my house.

mommy duck: "what are you silly ducks doing?! You get down here this instant! I'm not kidding...you're going to hurt yourselves up there on that ledge!"
baby ducks (we'll call them Logan and Aiden): ...radio silence.....one is looking up at the sky ignoring mommy and the other one is turned away clearly involved in something else entirely! So the story of my life!!

About Me
- Renay
- Stories about BRLAB: Brian & Renay, two relatively sane parents, and our three adorable, but active boys: Logan - 9, Aiden - 7 and Brady - 6. I started this blog to document our adventures and milestones for those family members who are far away and can't always share the fun in person. This blog has become my way to keep track of everything in the lives of my growing boys - from the super big stuff that seems the most important to the small things that probably really ARE the most important. I always include tons of pictures because I plan to make a book out of the blog on a yearly basis. Time flies by so fast, I can only hope that these posts will help us remember all the wonderful and silly times we have together as a family.

...radio silence! OMG - that is so funny and the story of my life! "Hello Andy? Are you there? Is anything that I'm saying to you getting through?" -we need a support group! :-)
LOVE the duck story! Of course you have always cracked me up!
Wow - what an awesome party you "organized". I'm so impressed - but then you are the primo party planner!
Logan's mailbox was the best one there I'm sure.
