Cries in the Night

Last night was one of those nights when it seemed that only mom wanted to sleep. Brady has been waking up most nights right around 11:45. I remember glancing at the clock last night at 12:00 and thinking "great! we made it!" Little did I know!

As I was getting ready this morning, I tried to remember all of the early morning events and it made me think of Nicole's recent post where she outlined her whole day. She ended her entry at bedtime....I think I'm inspired....but I'm going to start mine AT bedtime. Sadly, this is sort of a typical night....especially lately!

7:30 - put Brady to bed (stories, songs, lay him in his crib...noooo problem
8:00 - read stories to older boys, put Aiden in his bed (which involves no small amount of negotiation and quick thinking in order to EXIT the room), leave the door open per his request
8:10 - leave Logan's room after telling him that he can skip his nap tomorrow (today) if he goes straight to sleep without knocking, yelling or turning on his lights
8:20 - return to Logan's room after he starts yelling "maaaaaameeee" and, in return, Aiden from down the hall keeps yelling back "whhhhhhhat?!"
8:21 - get two "big boy cups" for Scruffy and Checkers (stuffed dog and cat respectively) to "have a drink" <-- I tried to say no, I really did! bring cups to Logan's room. Leave....again.
8:30 - finally settle on the couch with my laptop to start working (my "real job" that is...the one that actually pays $$)
9:15 - decide that it's time to change out of my jeans. walk upstairs to find my comfy pants, see that Logan's light is on, enter Logan's room to see him standing over by his window "flying" some magnetic blocks around. Logan: "oh...mommy! I am soo soo sooo sorry...I'm not tired yet!"
9:20 - rock Logan in his chair, sing a couple more songs, listen mid-song to explanation of how the flying blocks were Optimus Prime and Bumblebee (transformers), place one very sleepy boy in his bed
10:00 - tell myself it's time to go to bed, continue working instead (stupid project was really getting me frustrated and I couldn't stop)
11:00 - finally climb into bed
12:00 - wake, notice that it's past 11:45, feel positive about the rest of the night's sleep...also note that Logan is not in my bed - yeah me!
1:15 - hear Brady crying....er....screaming really
1:25 - check on Brady, change diaper, snuggle him for 5 minutes, give him some water, tip toe out of room...as he starts SCREAMING again.
1:35 to 1:50 - listen to Brady scream and wail (his crib shares a wall WITH the headboard on our bed.....awesome).
1:50 to 2:15 - visit Brady's room again, snuggle in the chair again, fall asleep in chair, wake up, place tired and sleeping baby in his crib....again, tip toe out of room as baby starts screaming....aaaagain.
2:15 - return to room, find Logan in my bed. Logan: "I snuck in here mommy". Me: "I see that honey. Brady is having a bad night...let's go lay in your room"
2:20 - settle into Logan's bed with him, set alarm on my phone to wake me at 3
3:00 - wake in Logan's room, step out and hear Bray STILL crying, give up and go find a bottle of milk
3:05 - give Brady milk....go back to my bed
4:00 - wake to hear someone crying, identify that it's Aiden, go to Aiden's room, re-cover him and sneak back to bed
4:45 - wake to Logan crying out "maaaamaaaa" from his room, retrieve crying child, bring him to my bed
6:00 - hear Aiden crying in his room, get milks and poptarts (high fiber!) from downstairs, settle Aiden on the couch in my room with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and his "breakfast", climb back in bed
6:15 - Logan joins his brother (after waking and kicking me a few times) and they watch one more show
7:00 - mommy gets in the shower, big boys get into the bathtub
7:45 - big boys dressed & downstairs
8:15 - mommy checks on Brady....who is (surprisingly) awake....and not happy with the world. (bray isn't allowed to have his pacifiers outside of his bed....usually....he squirmed out of my arms after I got him dressed and was about to take him downstairs, he stood at his crib, pointing and yelling until I gave him one of the pacifiers....and then he pointed and yelled some more until I gave him another....then another....and finally another).
This is Bray at breakfast. He is sobbing and can't figure out how to eat a banana and yet NOT forfeit the paci.

He would drop one of the pacifiers out of his mouth and on to the table so he could eat. But, then he would decide that he wanted it back. BUT....because both hands were full of other pacis and a banana, he kept leaning over to re-insert them this way (sorry about the picture quality)

A close up of the tears (and snot). Thankfully, after a good meal and some milk, he felt much better and was actually quite a trooper for the rest of the day. Way to press re-start Bray....can you teach mommy that trick ;)
After breakfast, we went over to Brian's older brother's house to play with our "big" cousins and Aunt "Didanda". They have spring break this week. Logan was so anxious to get there that he decided to go ahead and sit in the car while Aiden, mommy & Brady finished breakfast, brushed teeth, put on coats and shoes etc. (15 minutes...although, he did keep coming back in from the garage to check on our progress). This is Logan in hog heaven with one of Max & Zach's many Nerf guns.

This isn't a great video, but it's Aiden & Brady playing with one of Max, Zach & Jack's new pets....a gerbil named Steel (I think that was his name). Brady WAS giggling and pointing at Steel until I got my camera out. Aiden is VERY concerned that Bray is going to eat the gerbil poop....which we kept cleaning up....and the gerbil kept producing! They played with Steel on this train table for quite some time....but not long enough to make me consider getting one for our house by any means!!!

In other news, I discovered the source of all the missing "kids" forks. See that hole in the booster seat? That's where the tray is supposed to go, but it doesn't since we just push Brady up to the table. Aiden had this chair when he was little and liked to shove stuff down there as well.

This is a view underneath the booster seat....1/2 of my kid forks are in there! No wonder I haven't been able to find them!

SO FUNNY (not the night schedule, but the missing forks thing) because that SAME thing happened to us! I found more than just forks, though - other fun treasures, too! Anyway, SLEEP when you can!

About Me

My photo
Stories about BRLAB: Brian & Renay, two relatively sane parents, and our three adorable, but active boys: Logan - 9, Aiden - 7 and Brady - 6. I started this blog to document our adventures and milestones for those family members who are far away and can't always share the fun in person. This blog has become my way to keep track of everything in the lives of my growing boys - from the super big stuff that seems the most important to the small things that probably really ARE the most important. I always include tons of pictures because I plan to make a book out of the blog on a yearly basis. Time flies by so fast, I can only hope that these posts will help us remember all the wonderful and silly times we have together as a family.
