Daddy's First Post

Daddy got a new toy for Christmas - a soft-serve ice cream maker. Sadly, it was out of stock when his mom went to purchase it in December so it just arrived (happy late Christmas!). Brian wanted to give it a whirl this weekend...and I wanted to give something a whirl as well...a post written by the man himself. Take it away Brian!!!

This morning, while mommy snuck upstairs to get less stinky (yes she is very stinky in the morning), Daddy and the boys began the process of making our first batch of homemade ice cream. After little to no deliberation, Chocolate was selected. Daddy chose chocolate as it is his favorite and his ice cream machine. The process was relatively easy: a little white/brown sugar, a little unsweetened chocolate, a little milk, vanilla, and finally a lot of half and half. We mixed it up in our stand mixer, another present from memaw, until we created what we called chocolate soup. It was yummy already!! The chocolate soup was placed in the outdoor fridge for safe keeping from the sugar monster otherwise known as Aiden.

While mommy went to the store today, daddy and the boys picked out toppings. The ice cream maker lets you select up to three "mix-ins" that can be added to the ice cream when it is dispensed. The boys selected candy coated mini-chocolate chips. Daddy chose a Reese mix in... peanut butter is good!
Aiden lovcs his mix-in !!! Aiden and Logan get the first taste, the yummy ice cream made Aiden forget he was eating out of a bowl that wasn't blue.
Me like ice cream a lot !!!!!Daddy gives it a go, he is obviously having a sugar rush !! The first drawback of the process is discovered. Self service !!!!! The world is our foot stool, or at least the play-do bin. Big brother gives it a try, overall a big success !!!!!
Yeah Daddy! Good post!! Now it's back to mom! I have one more thing to write about before we're done...we'll call this part "Brady makes three".

Brian has had some pretty bad luck when it comes to our kids and...potty accidents. For example, the very very first time he thought it would be fun to take a bath with Logan, our sweet little man (then only about 5 months) pooed in the bathtub! I think poor Brian was traumatized by the whole thing (and this was NOT the last time he was in a poo-tub...as it were). I can't remember Aiden's big incident, but it was something bad...worse than the bathtub. I think it went something like this: Aiden and Brian are cuddling in bed, Brian smells something funny and feels something warm...everyone is rushed to the shower. I made a card from Aiden to daddy that day (see below). This card was delivered after I let poor Brian go back to bed that morning (being pooed on is, again, quite traumatic I guess.....although I've had my FAIR share of....encounters). Anyway, last night, Brian was taking a shower and I asked him to rinse Brady off before bed and handed him in. I was picking things up in our bedroom when I heard "CODE 23!!!" (did I write a post about this before? I don't think so....household code words to be discussed in the future). Anyway - I ran in as is deemed by a code 23 and Brian said "you have to take him!" Poor Brian had put Brady on the floor of the shower because....his whole arm was covered (in you know what). Brian asked me to get a diaper (of all things) so I did and he scraped the PILE of poop off of his arm. I remembered the card I made from Aiden because I had run across it only a couple of weeks ago. I went downstairs, modified and re-purposed the sentiment, put Bray to bed and gave the card to Brian. He laughed of course. Humor really is the best medicine (plus, in this case, a good amount of soap!)

your poor husband...it made me laugh, though, after a night/day of bodily fluids at our house, too.

we've been using the "code 22/23" lingo since you commented on my blog a few weeks ago about that!

A silver lining:if ever one of the boys is suffering from constipation, just hand to Brian and encourage a bath/shower. Problem solved!

Yum!! The ice cream looks awesome!! Nice job men!! But - where is the picture of little Mommy and her bowl? HMMM??

Love Karen's sentiment! Poor Bri. I think you just get used to this kind of thing with little ones.

I agree - the ice cream looks awesome!

I have to admit that I laughed so hard at the poo story I started to cry - right here at work. Hopefully you will not have to give Brian that card again!

About Me

My photo
Stories about BRLAB: Brian & Renay, two relatively sane parents, and our three adorable, but active boys: Logan - 9, Aiden - 7 and Brady - 6. I started this blog to document our adventures and milestones for those family members who are far away and can't always share the fun in person. This blog has become my way to keep track of everything in the lives of my growing boys - from the super big stuff that seems the most important to the small things that probably really ARE the most important. I always include tons of pictures because I plan to make a book out of the blog on a yearly basis. Time flies by so fast, I can only hope that these posts will help us remember all the wonderful and silly times we have together as a family.
